Spooky Season officially arrives this week as the sun moves into Scorpio, bringing us deeper into the depth and decay of autumn. Venus continues her retrograde through Scorpio, and Mercury stations retrograde (also in Scorpio) for its last retrograde of 2026.
So if the Scorpio house of your chart feels loud and attention-grabbing this week: that’s why.
Scorpio’s still waters offer a mirror to what we hope to accomplish and what we are actually doing, helping us discern what steps we need to take to make the Idealized Self a reality.
Personally, I am in the final throes of the last big round of revisions on the book based on this newsletter, aka Astrology for Artists: Intentional Practices for Creative Living, coming out next year with Hachette. If all goes well, AFA will enter the production phase of traditional publishing before Scorpio season is out.
While the final grind of revisions has me feeling like I’m on my last brain cell, I’m very cognizant of the ways that the Venus and upcoming Mercury retrogrades help us as artists dive deeply into the work, taking apart what a previous draft deemed “good enough” and refusing to settle for anything less than the clearest, sharpest, most emotionally resonant truth.
Wherever you are in the creative process, I hope that this week’s intensity offers you the kind of clarity that cuts to the heart of things.
