Content wise, astrology for writers will stay the same. I’ll still be bringing you New and Full Moon missives, week ahead “writing do’s and don’t’s,” and regular posts about publishing, witchcraft, and so much more.

As y’all know due to the several essays I’ve sent out over the last month, Stripe and Substack conspired to make this transition hell by not allowing me to smoothly, automatically transfer your paid subscriptions from Substack to a new platform.

It has occurred to me that I am now writing a 7-year-old, New York Times-featured newsletter on spec. lolsob.

So my big ask for you is that, if this newsletter inspires you to write, or helps you plan out your week, or simply is a source of publishing insight that you wouldn’t otherwise get, that you consider a paid subscription.

Historically, only about 5-10% of my readers are paid subscribers at any given time. That 5-10% of you have helped me stay gainfully self-employed, and is the number I’m hoping to get back up to snuff here on beehiiv.

I know not everyone can or even wants to pay for a newsletter (and Discord), but if you are someone who would not otherwise “miss” that $5-12 a month (aka: someone with genuinely disposable income), I’d like to invite you to join the astrology for writers world.

I HAVE LOWERED THE NEWSLETTER’S PRICING.

IN 2026.

This tier gets you all paywalled newsletter content, most notably the week ahead forecasts but also the occasional essay on publishing or witchcraft that I opt to paywall for ~reasons~ (usually sensitive industry content or personal spellwork that I don’t want to put On Main).

Exactly what it sounds like: this is the tier that includes all paywalled newsletter content AND Discord access. The ability to separate out a newsletter-only from a newsletter-AND-Discord tier was really important to me in this move.

At this point, the astrology for writers Discord has YEARS of absolutely invaluable, easily searchable conversations about everything from editing agent query letters to troubleshooting a spell that didn’t work to what a particular planetary placement means to parenting advice to tips and tricks on How to Crochet to mutual aid drives to candle (aka prayer) chains and requests. So many IRL friendships have formed between folks who realized they live near each other. It’s been so, so special.

And I am active in there! I give a lot of time, attention, and energy to moderating the space, because I know that online communities are only true communities when there is intentional safeguarding, boundary work, and attention to detail. Which is to say, it’s important for me and my own energy that I pour into the space that the rate for the Discord-inclusive tier is appropriate.

A huge plus is that beehiiv integrates with Discord. Glory hallelujah. Beehiiv will automatically invite folks at this tier to join the Discord. I no longer have to personally manage ~each and every person’s~ onboarding. I could cry.

You will notice that there is no longer an option for an annual subscription. I’m gonna keep it 100: my business is growing, and I do not have the time to personally manage the shockingly high number of idiosyncratic issues that arise with annual subscribers every single month.

To allay the concern from longtime subscribers who have “lost” their 2020 annual subscription rate of $50: I’ve gifted all of you 3 additional free months on top of your remaining time, AND the new Basic tier is only $5/month, which is what it was in 2020.

Keeping subscriptions month-to-month is much cleaner and simpler for all of us.

All seven years of almost-weekly newsletters are now FREE for everyone to read (although the 2019 posts especially… maybe don’t. I’m a much, much better astrologer now.)

Moving forward, the typical paywall for the week ahead forecasts and the occasional witchcraft and publishing intensive will resume, but ~enjoy~ the archive!

Whew. That was a lot.

tl;dr Thank you for weathering this major transition with me. I never want to change platforms again… or at least for another 7 years / almost-Uranus cycle.

I also want to shout out the brilliant and generous Théo Pavlich, without whom this transition would not have happened. The fact that we were able to get up and running within a month was nothing short of miraculous and is entirely due to Théo’s generosity with their time and expertise. All hail!
