Today is THEE LAST DAY to sign up for Book Deal Breakthrough,

for folks who want to use the magical and the practical to finally get published.

We start this Sunday, April 26th with our welcome and opening ritual at 1pm Eastern. Sign up by 11:59pm Eastern tonight to get the welcome email (with all the links AND some extra goodies!) tomorrow.

Still not sure if this is for you?

A lot of folks have asked if you have to be ~ready~ to query agents to sign up. The answer is NO — you don’t have to be querying agents this minute for BDB to level up your career!

What you DO need to get the most out of Book Deal Breakthrough is enough of a draft (fiction or nonfiction) that you know what the book f-ing is. tl;dr:

Book Deal Breakthrough is NOT for:

  • Poets (I’m sorry! Your career trajectory is WILDLY DIFFERENT than narrative writers! I’m not a poet and consequently NOT the person you should get career advice from!)

  • folks who are in the “I think I want to write a memoir” or “maybe I’ll write my novel this year” pre-writing phase — rad that you’re there, but BDB is ahead of where you are in the process!

Book Deal Breakthrough IS for:

  • Novelists, memoirists, essayists, and practical/prescriptive nonfiction writers with enough of a draft written to KNOW what their book is and who are starting to orient toward publication

  • Writers who are READY to think about querying, submitting, and consequently where/how their book project fits in the market — and the magic to do at this phase!

We’ll use your birth chart, the magical power of ritual, conversations with industry pros, and straight up spellcraft to break through to the next level in your publishing journey — and get career-defining clarity on what actually works for you.

Every week, we’ll marry a magical lesson and group ritual with a hands-on publishing Q&A. (the first few weeks of the live calendar are below!)

I’m even bringing some of my favorite people along for the ride —

Special guests for the live publishing Q&As will include,

  • Dana Murphy, literary agent at Trellis, and my own agent of 7 years

  • Jenny Xu, senior editor at Atria Books (S&S), and my own editor for Heretic

  • Carla Bruce, a publicist at Lavender Public Relations, former Director of Publicity at Harper One World, and longtime newsletter reader

  • Lilly Dancyger, nonfiction MFA faculty, former small press editor, acclaimed memoirist, and my writers’ group comrade these last 8 years!

  • Nikki St. Crowe, a USA Today Bestselling dark romantasy author who began her career indie (self) publishing before transitioning to Big 5, and a beloved longtime client

  • Casey McQuiston, a #1 New York Times bestselling author of queer romance and dear friend

8 live rituals. 9 live Q&As. Asynchronous guided meditations. Publishing 101. Witchcraft 101. Spreadsheet templates for agent querying and more. AND guided walk-throughs from me for publishing spells that actually work.

Get ready, because your publishing journey is gonna look totally different on the other side.

The Fine Print

  • Starts Sunday, April 26th and ends Sunday, June 28th. You can see the schedule here, but all live rituals are Sundays at 1pm Eastern.

  • The full Q&A schedule has not been announced (because lots of super amazing AND super busy industry guests means scheduling tetris!!), BUT I can share our first few weeks of Q&As here:

    • Week One, we have TWO Q&As to kick us off:

      • Publishing 101 with Jeanna, Monday, April 27th at 6pm Eastern

      • Guest Q&A with Casey McQuiston (focus: fiction; working with the Big 5), Wednesday April 29th at 6pm Eastern

    • Week Two: Guest Q&A with Lilly Dancyger (focus: nonfiction; submitting to small presses), Tuesday May 5th at 5:30pm Eastern

    • Week Three: Q&A with Jeanna Thursday, May 14th at 7pm Eastern
